Should i skip problems on the sat

Unfortunately, they work against them on the SAT. Make no mistake: answering all the questions on the SAT is a bad strategy unless you are shooting for an He scored a on the Critical Reading section — answering 41 questions correctly, missing 22 questions, and skipping 4 questions. The 22 wrong answers was a red flag for me.

It suggested that he was guessing too often — making wild guesses instead of educated ones. And it was costing him — he lost 50 points from those wrong answers. He argued that being aggressive works. And you only lose a trifling quarter point for any wrong answers, anyway. You get a good score by being present and calm.

You want to be so confident in the material that you barely need to guess at all! Each course is online, self-paced, and covers every section of the test through practice questions, videos, and study guides. You can check it out and enroll at www. You should spend time on the questions that you will be able to answer. If you feel like you are spending too much time on any question, guess and move on. You can always return to those questions later.

Strategic test-takers know to spend their time on questions they are likely to answer correctly, not to stubbornly work through a difficult or time-consuming question before they have seen other, potentially easier, questions.

In some cases, you can eliminate answer choices with very little effort. For instance, if a math question asks for the solution for x and tells you that x must be greater than zero, eliminate all negative answer choices. But you don't want to be stuck up at the top of the tree only to peer down and notice that you had dropped EASIER to pick apples that are now just sitting there at ground level.

So how do you know how many questions to answer per section? Take more practice tests, and keep scoring yourself. Every time you take a new test, slow down a little bit more and see how it affects your score. I'm willing to bet that for most of you, your score will start going UP! Of course, you do still have to answer a decent amount of questions to get a good score; so don't go overboard with this.

Even if you get it right, it will still be a waste of your very precious time. Subscribe to our RSS Feed. All Rights Reserved.
